Case Studies

img_Graph.pngIt’s all very well seeing these fantastic claims of energy efficiency and saving up to 12% off your electricity bills, but how can you know what’s true and what’s not?

Actually, there are some technologies on the market that drastically over-state their claims – but here at VPhase we’ve gone to great lengths to substantiate the energy and CO2 savings that can be achieved with the VPhase VX1 domestic Voltage Optimisation device.

Case Studies & Testimonials

We’re keen to develop a range of case studies, testimonials and general user reviews from anyone that has had a VPhase fitted. One of the obstacles we have to overcome is the fact the device is a fit-and-forget product; it goes on making the savings silently in the background, so people simply forget it’s there! However, we are continuing to collate a growing range of evidence, some of which can be viewed HERE.

Great Places Housing Group

We have successfully completed trials with a North West Social Housing Provider (Great Places Housing Group), with the results being independently analysed by EA Technology, demonstrating whole-house CO2 savings of 3.6% and energy savings of 9.0%. (Savings will obviously vary depending on the housing type and energy use profile of the house the device is installed in). The full report can be read HERE.

Solar Case Study

An electrical contractor (Groombridge Solar Installations) completed an installation of a 22 panel, 3.96 kwP solar array at a detached property in Kent, and installed a VPhase unit at the same time. The electrical engineer, Jack Moor, quoted that, "the VPhase unit took around 3 hours to install and test, which made a total of just over a day and a half to install both the VPhase and the solar PV system". The full case study can be read HERE (PDF).

Ofgem CERT Demonstration Action

Between September 2009 and May 2010, VPhase conducted its CERT Demonstration Action with Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) across 50 sites in the Reading and Newbury areas of Berkshire. The data was collected and analysed by EA Technology, and despite the limitations of the methodology used to assess the energy saving (see report HERE), the device was proven to save 6.3% in non-electrically heated homes. Importantly, due to the life of the product being assessed at 36 years, the report estimated the lifetime CO2 saving as 5.0 tonnes. This report therefore led to the VPhase Voltage Optimisation unit being eligible for CERT funding over a 20 year measure. The full Ofgem report can be viewed on the Ofgem web site HERE (PDF).
